Send a postcard to Finland.
Have you ever been to Finland? I haven’t, but it is a place that appeals to my love for all things winter. I became aware of an initiative to draw attention to a village in eastern part of Inari that is without mail services. The following is shared on a Facebook page* promoting the project:
“This project is about returning the post office services to Sevettijärvi area. At the moment the nearest post office is about 120 km (75 miles) from the village. We were wondering if you could be so kind and show your support to the people still living in Sevettijärvi village? You can do this by simply writing a postcard to the local school.”
Send a postcard
I am going to send a postcard to Finland this weekend. I hope you will join me. From what I can piece together (google translate is handy that way) from this article, the official campaign to get people to send in postcards ended February 17th, but it’s never too late to send some mail and they are are happy to receive a postcard any time.
Please join me in sending a postcard to:
Sevettijärven koulu
99930 Sevettijärvi
Finland
