I received my first Christmas card last week!
You got some Christmas cards, now what?
I love going to the mail box at this time of year in anticipation of all the cards. But, then, what to do with them? I wanted to share with you some of my favorite ideas on the blog today. Like this paint stir stick mobile, above. So creative!
Think outside the same old, same old
I love how this is a tiny, yet clever twist on the traditional idea of hanging cards on door frames, looks completely different when the cards are hung outside of the door frame! Looks amazing, especially on the white wall.
Add some lights
I happened upon this idea as I was flipping through the Ricardo Magazine a couple of days ago. I like that you could keep this stick/light creation up year round and do photos instead of cards. I know two girls who would think this was pretty cool in their rooms. Little white lights change everything.
Simple, easy and beautiful
This wreath caught my eye for a couple of reasons. One is that it is so easy, just stick the cards in an already made wreath. Pow. Done.
I also liked the idea of displaying the handwritten side of the cards too, as something a bit different. Something so personal and wonderful about seeing the handwriting of family and friends. Almost like they are right there in your house.
String a ribbon
Clothes pins are used for so many things other than hanging laundry, aren’t they? String a ribbon down the banister, greenery or not, and you have a lovely display done in 5 minutes.
Recycle old containers
At my house, I use a container that used to hold a plant, to pop my cards in. I switch them up every once and awhile to see a different one. I just couldn’t throw out the sleigh and cards looked great in it.
Flower frogs never looked so good
My new friend Talya blew me away with this completely cool idea of using flower frogs to hold cards. I had never seen this before and I absolutely loved it. Click on the above link to see what they are and where she gets them.
Kid friendly
This option, cards on the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree, would work well to get the kiddies involved. I love the simplicity of it. You could let them decide what shape they wanted to make. Snowman, maybe?
So, as the cards trickle in, and I do hope they do, let me know how you display your cards in your home.

Beautiful ideas! Love the cards around the door frame.

They are all so creative, aren’t they Ashley! But that door frame one is special. Makes me wish for white walls. Lovely to have you drop in for a visit. I do hope you are well.
Gracielle
I love getting Christmas cards – it’s the only time of the year where I actually enjoy checking my mailbox. I have a tree stand that holds Christmas cards, but these are all great simple ideas, too!

Hi there Gracielle, Thanks for taking the time out from your weekend to stop in for a visit. I would love to hear more about your tree stand that holds cards, this sounds very interesting. Christmas time is a favorite for so many reasons, but the cards are definitely one of the things I look forward to most too.

Great ideas! I have a huge opening into my kitchen and I put them around the door just like the idea above! It looks so festive and fun!
Barb
Hi there Michelle, I bet your kitchen looks amazing with all those cards around your door. I don’t have a good option in terms of doorways or I would try that too. Thanks for stopping in and I wish you the merriest of holidays.

I love these creative ways to display cards. I made a clothespin Christmas card wreath a few years back and I love using it to display my Christmas cards.
I like the cards around the door frame idea too. I had a colleague who used to do that (although she had WAY more Christmas cards that me)!
Thanks for sharing. Wishing you a lovely weekend.

A clothes pin card wreath! This sounds very cool Jennifer. I suppose you could do one that could display birthday greetings too. Here’s hoping you get lots of Christmas cards this year. 🙂 Lovely of you to visit. Merry Christmas to you.
Eva
Very creative! I haven’t received my first yet.
Barb
Hello Eva, so pleased you liked these ideas. I did too. You now have the luxury of deciding which option to go with before all the cards start to arrive. May you get bucket loads!
Barbara Tate (Talya's mom)
I was thrilled to see Talya’s idea of her flower frogs. I actually did the cards on the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree when I was in high school, many moons ago. All the ideas were great.
Barb
I love moms who read their daughters blogs! 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Barbara, I too loved Talya’s flower frog idea for cards. I’m going to keep an eye out for them when I’m out and about at thrift stores. P.S. I bet your card christmas tree was just fabulous back in the day!
Talya Tate Boerner
Thanks for including my flower frog post! I love all of these ideas. Very creative.

My complete pleasure Talya. I just had to share your most amazing idea. Hoping you receive many cards to fill those flower frogs up. Thanks for stopping in.
