I love this image above. The vintage feel of it, the colours, the postmarks, the stamps and the postcards. I especially love postcards. Just a little bit at a time. Nothing too grandiose. Manageable. Doable.
Some times on a Sunday evening I have this sense of exhaustion. Maybe we had a wild and crazy weekend. Maybe it was none stop activity. Throw in a kids sleep over and I am over the edge. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? Isn’t the weekend supposed to provide a space of rejuvenation and a bit more down tempo time?Ah, yes, that is the theory.
So here I sit wishing I did the following things this weekend:
* more reading of Middle March by George Eliot. this book has become the bane of my existence. it is holding up all my other reading. but I will plod on. a friend assures me it does get better. and so I continue. I will plod on.
* less time on Twitter. serious addiction problem here in its infancy I think. only 10 days left in my 1 month twitter experiment. we shall see.
* more writing
* more playing and lazy hanging out with my kids
* less time harping on what hasn’t been done yet
But, friends,here is the thing. There is always a new day tomorrow! Thank goodness for that and all the grace that comes with it. Wishing only fosters regret. And regret is guilt ridden. And so a new week begins tomorrow. Ample time for just a little bit here, a little bit there. Doable. Manageable. Here are a few things happening in my world and the larger world this week:
* my parents are here for a visit. so very blessed that they could come. will soak up every moment.
* In Britain it is National Stationery Week ! Some great ideas here on how to encourage people on how to write more by hand. Two of my favourite ideas mentioned here: go on a ‘stationery crawl’ (this made me laugh) and ‘treat yourself to a notebook or pen’ and of course I don’t need much of an excuse to do just that!
* I am hoping to go to a ranch this week and get a taste of the wild west via horse back
* reviewing a book of a new friend that is about to launch on May 9th – more on this in the near future – so far really funny!
* work on a blog post about men and writing…..oh yeah, you need to come back if only to read this post alone!
* but most of all, be really thankful for that there is always a new week!
