Postage rates go up January 14,2019
Quick, go to your local post office and stock up on permanent stamps (like the ones in the photo with the ‘P’ in the corner) before the price increases from $0.85 to $0.90 when you buy a booklet. Cost for an individual stamp will now cost $1.05; also an increase of five cents.
These permanent stamps will always be worth the current price of a stamp. So even if you bought them when a stamp cost $0.50 they will hold their value when the price goes up.
Postage increases in January
Canada is not the only country where the cost to mail a letter is getting pricey. The United States Postal Service is also raising the price by five cents on January 27, 2019. Similar to Canada’s permanent stamps, the USPS has ‘Forever Stamps‘ that operate on the same principle. The time is now to stock up.
It has been four years since the price of a Canadian stamp went up.

As long as the stamp is cheaper than delivering the envelope/package myself, my frequency will not be affected. I’ll most likely snail mail more this year, than I have in any other:) Happy New Year to you, Barb!!
