International Typewriter Day is June 23
In recognition of International Typewriter Day next week, I wanted to share the inside scoop on a book celebrating the iconic machine that is at the printers as we speak. My friend Janine Vangool, the publisher/editor/designer (she’s a busy gal) at Upper Case Magazine has been putting together this book for the past three years.
Behind the scenes peek at the book
I recently paid a visit to Janine at her studio and snapped a few photos of the book in progress. These samples (or wet proofs) of the actual book pages show us what we can expect to find in the completed volume. Weighing in at 336 pages this book is a comprehensive look at the graphic history of the typewriter.
You can pre-order your book now
Printing will be complete by the end of July and mailing will happen in September. You are able to pre-order now so that you can be assured to get your copy ‘hot-off-the-press.’ Cost is $45.00 to Canada/USA and $50.00 for International orders.
Many thanks to Janine for providing us with a special peek behind the scenes of The Type Writer: a Graphic History of the Beloved Machine. We can’t wait for it to arrive on our shelves.
In the meantime, should any of you be interested in acquiring a typewriter of your own, visit my recent post for some ideas on where you can find a typewriter. I can hear the click, clack, zzzzzzzip already.
When was the last time you used a typewriter?
