Trending now
2014. Often we hear proclamations this time of year. Trends predicted. Labels given. All of this is fine, and often interesting, yet it seems too big for me. Not that I don’t find the fact that it is the Year of the Horse fascinating or that the color of the year —Radiant Orchid inspiring, rather it just seems beyond me.
Piece by piece
So, instead, I am going to try and be deliberate about initiating peace in my little corner of the world. And perhaps, like a puzzle, all the little pieces will add up to something larger than just one person. Here are some ideas for you and me:
* write a card or letter to someone.
* involve the kids in a random act of kindness each month. some fantastic RAK ideas here.
* send a note or a drawing in the school lunches —even to the grown ups in the family.
* smile more. yell less.
* find the ‘hooray’ in the mundane.
* make time for tea and a prayer each day.
What New Year’s Resolutions did you make?

I am delighted to find someone who thinks letter writing is a worthwhile art. It reminded me how important it is, and to quit being lazy and do it. I like all of your ideas 🙂 I recently wrote about finding old letters from family members. It is said that no one remembers a special tweet, or saves a special email, but letters…we hold on to them forever

Thanks so much for taking the time to pop on over for a visit Christa. I do hope your SITS day was spectacular! I will need to read you recent post on finding those letters, I can only imagine the emotions and memories they must have brought to life. Yup, something about a letter on paper, folded, and tucked in an envelope that doesn’t compare to an email or a tweet. Hope to talk soon.

I wondered if you’d ever read Asia’s 300 Love Letters Project. . .

Thanks for stopping by and for a visit and leaving me this great suggestion. I have not read or heard of this project, but will definitely sleuth it out.
