From boat to dock ‘mail boat jumpers’ deliver the mail.
If you live on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin, USA you could have your mail delivered by a ‘mail boat jumper.’
It is exactly as it sounds. A mail boat jumper delivers the mail by jumping from the Walworth, a U.S. Mailboat to the dock, pops the mail in the mailbox AND runs to jump back on the boat.

Mail delivered by boat has historic beginnings
This method of mail delivery has been going on since 1916 as the homes were very remote and often inaccessible by road. Today you can book a sight seeing tour on the boat and watch in amazement as the mail get delivered from dock to dock.
Although it doesn’t involve jumping this story reminds me of another historic boat that used to deliver mail in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada; the Royal Mail Ship Segwun Steamship.
Talk about a crazy fun summer job! Would you do it? I think I would.

LOL, where do you find these things! Excellent!

Yes, quite something! This was brought to my attention by a reader of the blog. I always appreciate when readers suggest topics or ideas for the blog. I say ‘keep ’em coming.’ 🙂

That is so funny! What a great job. Thanks for sharing.
Barb
I know! Completely would appeal to me. Although I’m sure I would have taken a few ‘dips’ in the water. Hilarious!

I probably would have enjoyed this in my 20’s.

Same applies to me too, JarieLyn. So fun! Outside, delivering the mail. Such beautiful scenery too. Thanks for reading.

I don’t know that my agility is adequate for this type of job, but I think it would be really fun.

And coordination…to judge the speed of the boat and how fast you need to run, not to mention the actual jump! Crazy!
