Humpty Dumpty
I’m still waiting for an invitation to a Greek wedding or dance where the tradition of breaking plates happens. Something about this careless abandon resonates with me.
It was last fall that I made a trip to the Banff Centre which is just down a highway and into the mountains from my house. As I wandered the grounds, creativity seemed to spill out of every nook and cranny.
Take this wall for instance. I loved all the shards and broken pieces of pottery and dishware, but it was the pieces with the words that really captured my attention.
Be the glue
I don’t know what the back story is as to how this wall came to be, but from trying to piece the sentences together, my guess is perhaps it was a tactile, artistic experience to explore pain, love, hurt, reconciliation, interpretation.
But what is even more interesting to me than the broken pieces of glass is the cement holding it all together. It it wasn’t for this ‘glue’ these pieces wouldn’t be able to share their story.
I like to think that our words, whether on paper, written in a letter, or exchanged over coffee, are what binds us together.
Thrown any plates lately?

That wall looks so interesting. It’s interesting that you mentioned the glue that holds it together. Most people would have noticed the broken pieces and focused in on them. But your right something has to hold it all together. Visiting from Wake Up Wednesday Linky Party.

Hey there Heidi, Thanks for stopping in for a visit. Glad you found the post interesting. That wall made me think too. See you again soon.

Wow, I would love to see this wall in person! I love the art of writing, whether it’s random messages or letters or poems. The bits of pottery make it even more beautiful 🙂

Hi Christy, So lovely of you to stop in and take a peek at this amazing wall. Isn’t it something else? I am a fan of the art of writing too. Can’t get enough.
