February…the month of letter writing.

For anyone wanting to dabble in letter writing, no time like the month of February to give it a try.

In less then two weeks things are going to get a little postal.

1. International Correspondence Writing Month or more fondly known as InCoWrMo. Eric Orozco shared with me that he started this idea in January of 2013 as a way to legitimize his fountain pen habit (a kindred soul no doubt) and get others involved in the lost art of letter writing. So far over 474 participants from 30+ countries are getting their pens and paper ready for Feb 1st. Won’t you join them?
2. Month of Letters began in September 2010 when Mary Robinette Kowal took a vacation from the Internet for a month. She invited those that wanted to stay in touch do so via a handwritten letter. What’s really fun is that you can earn badges for sending out mail. Sign up to send a piece of mail every day the postal service runs in the month of February.
3. And although not limited to the month of February, #52Letters has started and runs the whole year long.
4. For those of you who may be interested in additional letter writing opportunities and snail mail exchanges, there are lots out there; just find the one that’s best for you.

Remember, February is the shortest month of the year, so easy-peasy, right?  On your pens. Get your paper ready, get set, and go!
