It will soon be National Stationery week on April 27 – May 3, 2015.
So why all the fuss over stationery you ask? Well it seems to me anything that gets people talking about putting pen to paper is worth a bit of a party. I love how Mary Kate McDevitt uses her hand-lettering talents to remind us to write more hand written letters.
But what if we haven’t written a letter in years?
@ritewhileucan Loving your writing spirit! Any tips for someone wanting to get back into letter writing?

I thought I would attempt to answer this question on the blog today.
Six tips for a lapsed letter writer
* forget about a letter. why not try a postcard instead. less pressure. quicker.
* send without expecting to receive —it is more fun and removes any chance for disappointment.
* pick up a pen, crayon, lipstick, chalk and put it to paper —all things require a beginning.
* consider the surprised reaction of the person you are writing too. what better way to be unpredictable and ditch the email or texting options.
* if nothing else writing a letter will slow you down. this is a good thing. a break from the ‘busyness’ of your day can be nothing but healthy.

Did I forget anything? Do share your own thoughts with all of us by leaving a comment.
Thanks for the great question Yviemarie, keep them coming!

Love your site! I’m over form SITS and I love your suggestions for the “lapsed letter writer”. That is totally me! I’ve recently begun writing letters again. I suggest if someone wants to write a letter, but is scared of not getting one back, why not look up a penpal? I found a couple of penpals on Instagram and now we’re semi-regularly exchanging postcards and notes.
Barb
Andrea, I would never have thought to find a pen-pal on Instagram. Brilliant. And, yes, this is a great idea for getting back into letter writing. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Stopping by from SITS. I’ve been writing to pen pals since 1985. It’s so much fun. Send me an e mail if you would like to be pals. dramaqueensmum@gmail.com

Pen pals since 1985?! You are a professional. I love it. And I Will do just that! Thanks for the invite and idea. Will be in touch.

I love writing. I truly enjoy sending cards. I am a card hoarder. I can buy $50 – $80 in cards at one time. Especially around the holidays. I send cards for every holiday. To everyone. Even all the people on my street. It’s so much fun to think about them opening their mail and finding a card from their neighbor. Hope you’re enjoying your SITS day. Keep up the inspiration. Have a blessed day.

I love what you have done with your site!
Thank you for linking up with us over at The Wednesday Roundup! Have a great week!

You made my day Teresa! I am slowly revamping a few things. I am a very non-techie person so it is a continual learning (frustrating/thrilling) journey, so your words are so encouraging. Appreciate you taking the time to stop in for a visit.

I completely understand! When I first started my blog I knew nothing about coding and I would constantly get frustrated when things wouldn’t work out the way I wanted. I thought about pulling my hair out a few times over it. Now, it’s a little easier and I don’t get frustrated as much (I still have my moments though!). If you have any questions I’d be more than happy to help in any way I can. 🙂
Barb
Ahh, I love that I am not the only one who goes through this, but I love your kind offer even more. So lovely! Thank you. We shall see how much hair I have when all said and done. Talk soon I hope.
