You are invited!
I am co-hosting a wee bit of a party and wanted you to be the first to get the VIP invite.
Please join me this Thursday, December 10th, at one of my favorite local haunts—Good Earth Café, where I’ll be providing all sorts of paper treasures, stationery and what not, for you to explore this whole notion of snail mail in our digital age. And yes, I will be bringing along my typewriters! Postage stamps are included (I’m bringing out the vintage beauties) and I will even post the cards for you.
Included in the ticket price of $10, my friends at Good Earth Café are offering a drink of your choice (I highly recommend their London Fog latte).
Because many of you are not local (sadly) to just pop on over, I will take lots of photos and share how the evening goes. But, Calgary peeps, I sure do hope to see you there.
P.S. This is a great way to start writing your Christmas cards. Just bring them along and get busy. Will you be sending out cards this year?
Joan
Oh Barb, I too wish I was closer as I would love to sip a London Fog together and do some silent socializing.
I will plan to make the best LFog in my kitchen tomorrow night and be with you in spirit.
Hoping there will be a season of life when we might live closer together again…
Barb
Why hello there Joan, Thanks for joining me ‘remotely’ for the Letter Writing Social! So sweet you are to think of me. Miss you too.
Annette
Hi Barb
You had me at “Letter Writing Social” and then to think it is at a small cafe to enjoy holiday coffee or wine, I could almost justify the 1600 miles. A favorite pastime, with new people to meet and an awesome environment. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow night. I am trying to get going on the Christmas cards and I actually have a few letters “in-progress” that need to make their way to the recipient. All the best from Sandwich, IL to you and those that can make it. Annette
Barb
Annette, so glad I’m not the only one this sort of event appeals too! 🙂 So wish you could just ‘time travel’ across those many miles tomorrow night. Thanks for your encouragement, and I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.
Melanie
OH how I wish I lived in your area (or even in your country! 🙂 ). I would LOVE to attend such an event. I’m afraid I might be too distracted to actually write anything but it would be so worth it. Maybe “someday” I’ll get to do one of these gatherings. I wonder if I hosted one where I live if anyone would come? Have fun…..I know you will!!!
Barb
I wish you lived close by to Melanie, it would be so fun to meet in person and get down to paper business! 🙂 You are the second person to wonder out loud if they hosted something in their own area. Perhaps this is an idea I should explore; a ‘kit’ so to speak on how to host a letter writing social….hmmm….In the meantime, let’s see if anyone shows up tomorrow night! Talk to you soon.
Elinor Florence
What a lovely idea, Barb! How I wish I could be there. Please do post lots of pix!
Barb
Elinor, You sure you don’t want to ‘pop on’ over? 🙂 I will make sure to update you on how it goes. I’m going to have fun tomorrow preparing all the paper treasures and making sure my typewriters are working. Stay tuned.
