Never too late to try something new
I never had a pen pal as a kid. How strange for a letter writing fiend such as myself. No matter. It’s never too late to try something new.
To be truthful, the commitment to a pen pal overwhelms me a bit, so that’s why I recently joined up with Lovely Letters snail mail exchange which gives you the freedom to participate when you feel like it. Works for me.
A date stamp with attitude
This particular letter exchange is for bloggers, but there are several snail mail exchanges out there that offer many options in terms of types of exchanges (see my ever growing list of snail mail exchanges).
All this to say, I received a most creative package with the post mark from Nevada, USA. JariLyn spoiled me. She went all out, sending me delightful treasures that just kept coming as I rifled through the box. I especially love this K&Company Smash date stamp. As you can see I went a little crazy trying it out.
A handwritten letter is a treasure
This wee clip board and note pad are right beside my computer. Isn’t the chevron pattern darling?!
But, you know what was my favorite part of the package?
A real-to-goodness, long, handwritten letter from JariLyn. It was full of interesting things that helped me to get know her better. Tidbits of news about her life and interests. A snapshot of things she likes and has learned over the years, plus some insights on why she loves writing letters. This was the true treasure of the box.
In fact, JariLyn loves writing letters so much she shares the mail she receives and sends over on JariLynsMailBag. Check it out. For sure, it will convince you that snail mail is very much alive in some corners of the world.
Thank you JariLyn for your “Lovely Letter!”
Lisa from Lisa's Life
I finally got around to sorting snail mail pen pals for this new year and I’m so pleased I did. We call it #postcircle and you get allocated into a group of six correspondents. There’s no pressure on time or regularity as our postage rates are quite high! Wish I’d joined sooner 🙂
Barb
Lisa, Thank you for sharing about #postcircle. Sounds perfect. Is this open to all? If so, would you like me to include it on my snail mail exchange list? I would love to hear more about it.
Louisa
What a lovely post. I had may pen pals as a child and look back at them with fondness. There is nothing like receiving a handwritten letter. #paperypeeps

I think I’d be just the same with that lovely stamp, love that it has some text before the date – I bet you’re going to have some great fun with that. Actually make that some more great fun with it! 🙂 #paperypeep
Barb
Ha! You are so right Stephanie, more crazy fun for sure. I had never seen a stamp with the text before the date so it was pretty cool to receive it. Thanks for taking the time to visit.

How lovely. I joined in a mug exchange once which was fun. It’s exciting getting things in the post that aren’t bills and such like. have thought about having a pen pal. There is something about a handwritten letter.
