What was in my mailbox this week. No. 11.
A frequent question that comes my way is, “How many people do you exchange letters with?” To be honest I’ve never counted.
In this latest installment of what was in my mailbox this week are some photos of my mail. The picture above shows those letters that I have sent a response to.
The mail that still awaits a response from me includes some of these lovelies below.
Anticipation of receiving mail
This card shows the 2016 USA Stamp Quilled Paper Heart. So perfect to send to a snail mailer like me.
Roseanne, who is from Massachusetts, USA, loved getting mail as a kid and has continued to write letters ever since. The anticipation of receiving mail and seeing your name on an envelope never grows old.
A royal correspondence
This is the first correspondence I’ve had with Stefan. He took me up on my offer that I will write anyone back who writes me. I’m so glad he did. Isn’t his penmanship (and ink) beautiful!
Being from the UK he has access to the postage stamp commemorating the recent marriage of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. The wedding of the year, indeed.
Watch for Fall 2018 Letter Writing Social dates
Claudia is a gem. We actually live in the same neighborhood here in Calgary. Isn’t it crazy fun that we send each other mail?!
As you can see Claudia is a fan of my Letter Writing Socials. She and I both are looking forward to the new Fall schedule; dates to be released very soon.
Typewriter charm
Here is a letter in typewriter font from my new friend Gray. Gray’s letters are full of charm, witty observations and thought provoking questions.
I think this letter deserves a well thought out, typewritten response in return. I just have to decide which of my typewriters to use.
Method for responding to letters
I am always behind on my correspondence. I used to feel a self imposed pressure to pen a letter straight away, and when time did not allow for this I got all stressed out.
After organizing (and I use that term loosely) my mail into ‘incoming’ and ‘responses sent’ I now respond to letters in the order I feel like vs chronologically. For more on my take on response time and snail mail etiquette have a read here.
Melanie
I think responding should be allowed in whatever timeframe someone feels comfortable with. Inspiration and “mood” have to be right to enjoy the process. And to tag on to Roseanne’s comments – a secondary enjoyment to sending snail mail is seeing my mail on a letter-writer’s blog. :).
Barb
You are speaking my language here Melanie. 🙂 Thank you for this affirmation. p.s. you just never know what might show up here on the blog. Thanks for the mail.
Roseanne Felago
What a surprise to see my card and envelope to you featured above! Glad you liked the card, Barb, and hope to hear from you soon.
Barb
Hee, hee, Roseanne. I thought that might make you smile. I loved the card. Thank you again. p.s. sending you some mail very soon.
