Unexpected surprises
If you follow my instagram account you will recognize this picture of my mailbox. I shared it recently, wondering aloud, if I would receive any ‘real mail’ that day. And guess what?
Hidden among the junk mail, the bills and a catalogue, it was there; just waiting for me. This delightful wooden, yes that’s right, wooden postcard.
Make someone’s day
The postcard by Cedar Mountain Studios was sent by a dear friend. It made my day.
Really, this is no exaggeration. It had been a bit of a glum day. I had been feeling a little ‘blue’ shall we say, deliberating this and that, was probably over tired, most likely missed my daily dose of exercise and to top it all off, it is possible I scarfed down a bag full of nibs … or something.
Ideas for a mailbox drop
I bet I’m not the only one who has had a day like that. Chances are you may have a friend who may need a little something in their mailbox to make their day just a wee bit brighter.
Here are a few ideas to make it fun and easy:
1. Send them a Birthday card. Even if it is way late or isn’t even their Birthday yet. That will surely get a laugh.
2. Perhaps a packet of coffee or tea tucked inside an envelope with a ‘thinking of you’ written on the tea tab would do the trick.
3. Print a photo of yourself and your friend and write on the back and pop it in the mail. A homemade postcard just for them.
4. Consider using the backside of a cereal box as your postcard or click here for more crazy fun recycling ideas for your mailbox drop.
Have you ever received something in the mail that made your day?

Hey there friend, so nice to see you. Thanks for visiting Ashley and taking the time to say ‘hello.’ Did you try any of these ideas? I hope to send a bday card out this week to a friend that I completely missed last year. Why not, right? It should bring a smile for sure. Hope you are well.
