Do you ever feel like you are in a maze?
Options
Yeah, me too. A single solitary day can some times feel like a maze. If only we could run like crazy inside this amazing paper maze. Sort of like a training ground for the uncertainties of life. Work out the kinks. Try one way, and if it doesn’t work, take another route.
Dead end
Here, the acclaimed Italian artist Michalengelo Pistoletto, stands in his work appropriately called The Labyrinth. This installation is 2100 meters of corrugated cardboard arranged in multiple paths, loops, and scrolls that may or may not lead anywhere.
Part of me is in love with this concept of not knowing where my path today might lead me. The adventure of it all. Another part of me dreads what is coming around the next corner. Will I be prepared for it? Will I choose to embrace it or turn and quickly run the other way?
Imagine
At the center of the maze is a huge white cube. The only way of getting to the cube is to navigate the intricate system of cardboard paths. The inside of the cube is covered entirely with mirrors “a space of pure imagination.”
I bet if you think hard enough you can remember a time when a cardboard box became something much more. Just by adding a bit of imagination.
What was it for you? A fort? A puppet theater? Perhaps a monster?

Wow! This is such a thought provoking work of art and your post is so pensive. The kids have used those cardboard boxes for so many things, the funniest was when they tried to use it as a sled…

Hi Antonella, thanks so much for stopping in for a visit. I love hearing what kids made out of cardboard – that slide would have been funny indeed. Will stop by and visit a bit later in the day. cheerio!
