The Neighborhood Postcard Project, originally started in San Francisco, is a project that fosters community connection through storytelling exchange. Storytelling through postcards.
Sharing of positive stories
People share positive personal stories about their neighborhood on a postcard and those postcards are delivered to random people in different neighborhoods within that same city. This exchange of handwritten stories break down stereotypes and build community; all through a simple postcard.

Make a difference in your community
Since April of 2013, this Neighborhood Postcard Project has been the creative genius of artist Hunter Franks. He was inspired by a conversation with youth who wanted to change the perception of their neighborhood. The project has come to have a life of its own and has spread globally.
If you are interested in having your community participate, everything is provided for you, including a toolkit, printable postcard templates and other resources.
See how a postcard from your neighborhood can build relationship, community and understanding.
What other applications could you see this project being used for?

What a cool idea! I live in SF, but I’ve never heard of this. I’ll have to see if anything is going on in my neighborhood and if not… 🙂

Hi there Keisha, I thought this was an amazing idea too.I would love to hear whether you find one in your own local community. I’m exploring my city too. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your comment. Cheer’s to the postcard!

This is fantastic Dominique! Let me know if I can be of help in anyway. I can think of multiple applications in corporate settings, but love the community based approach. Now, I’m curious! 🙂
