May I suggest a picnic?
There are two kinds of picnics in my mind. One with the actual tables and then the other with ants! There is something romantic about a blanket under a tree, I do not deny. But, a table, well a table minimizes the ant factor.
I loved the simplicity of this outside table setting. I found this picture on Pinterest but could not identify the original creative force behind it, so if it is you, please do let me know so we might enjoy more of your ideas. I have used a role of kraft paper to cover a table before, but it never occurred to me to cut them it into place mats. Adds a bit of outdoor chic I think. Love this idea for both kids and adults. In fact, I bet the doodles after a summer soirée would be frame worthy.
Some of the paper place mats out there are just too pretty to eat on, don’t you think? Take this place mat of antique cutlery. Just wouldn’t do to have mustard or ketchup slopped all over it. Here are three alternative ideas to spilled condiments:
1) wrapping paper especially for a wedding
2) drawer liners
3) take several sheets and frame for your wall.
There is really no limit to what paper products you can find for your table whether outdoors or indoors. This photo shows but a sampling of what is available over at ReworksUpCycleShop. So, what’s holding you back? Plan a picnic with or without the paper.
P.S So, I am dying to know, do you like the table or blanket option for your picnic?
Glenda
We picnic all the time in the summer. And although I do love the idea of a blanket on the ground, we tend to use a picnic table if one is available. I bring a cotton tablecloth to cover it. By the way, I like the idea of paper place mats used as drawer liners. Now where can I get some of these paper place mats??

Hi Glenda, I am headed on a picnic tomorrow so will be sure to throw in a cotton tablecloth – this is a good idea too. Most specialty kitchen stores would have these paper place mats. I haven’t checked dollar stores but they might also. I think I remember seeing some in Chapter’s too in their home decor section. Happy hunting.
