This past Sunday, August 18th, 2013 many people in Calgary, Alberta, Canada would have been gifted some paper artwork. Randomly. And, the delivery of said artwork, was all by bicycle. So imagine that. You are walking along the street and someone moving via pedal power stops long enough to give you a piece of artwork. Check out this very creative video to get an idea of the project.
The concept of PaperGirl began in 2006 in Berlin. The idea was to extend a open call for artwork, send it in to PaperGirl sites which would exhibit the artwork for public viewing locally and then share or gift it randomly. I stopped by the exhibit hosted by PaperGirl Calgary and here is a sampling of what I found.
For more information on the artists behind these works please do visit the PaperGirlCalgary site. Perhaps you will want to submit something next year.
Were you witness to any of these bicycle deliveries? Or perhaps you were fortunate to receive one yourself?
