The Paper Shop
I’m smitten at first sight when I walk into Il Papiro.
I found it first in Pisa (notice what is reflected in the photo of the shop entrance) but it has a few shop locations outside of Italy as well.
Paper knows no boundaries
It was lovely to meet Julia, who was working in the shop the day I visited.
Even though we didn’t speak each other’s language it was clear right away that we shared an admiration of beautiful paper things. Somehow our love for letter writing and all the magic that goes with it didn’t need any translation.
Watch how handmade marbleized paper is made
There was a vast choice of handmade papers and cards at this charming shop, especially the famous marbleized paper. Such beauty in each unique page.
Do you have a favorite paper shop? Do tell, as I might plan my next trip around it. Smile.

Hi Barb,
What a beautiful paper shop, indeed, and for someone who is so passionate about all things paper and letter writing, you must have felt completely at home, despite being in Italy! All things artistic transcend boundaries like language, don’t they? I’m sure you and Julia needed no translator to communicate your shared love for such creative expressions.

P.S. Thanks for visiting Poppy View and hope you pop by again soon!

Hello there Poppy, Lovely to have you stop in for a visit at my little corner of the blogosphere. I must say, I do miss Italy and all the wonderful artistic people and shops I met there. Hope I get to go back some day. Perhaps Greece? Your pictures sure are inspiring me to think about it. Hope to talk again soon.
