Paper at your Party
When I think of weddings and paper I often stop after I check off invitations, programs, and thank you cards. And maybe those creative take home wedding favors. (Speaking of take home treats, you will want to stick around and check out the amazing giveaway at the end of this post.)
Of course, I’m talking about my wedding memories of 20 years ago, so no doubt things have changed.
To bring me up to speed, I contacted one of my favorite, Calgary, Alberta, Canada based, purveyors of fine stationery products — Stevie + Bean Paperie. They had some terrific ideas you won’t want to miss.
Table top fun at the reception
2. Another great idea for the reception tables is to place fill-in-the-blank guest book cards with questions for the guests to answer for the Bride+Groom. Get creative and think beyond the standard question ‘What advice do you have for a happy marriage?” Questions like ‘what should we name our kids?’ or ‘When did you know we were right for each other?’ or ‘What do you recommend for a great date night’ will give the Bride +Groom tonnes of entertaining material to read on their honeymoon!
3. Wrap an empty box with gift wrap and add a slot in the top for guests to drop the cards in, or have a guest book table set up with blank guest book pages and some double-sided or washi tape for guests to paste their cards into the book. This makes a beautiful, heartfelt guestbook!
Eco conscious papers for your special day
Stevie + Bean take pride in ensuring their printing is sourced locally with printers that align with their beliefs and practices around ethical printing.
Whenever possible, they source 100% recycled paper and/or as much post-consumer product as possible and are also mindful of size and number of pieces they print to eliminate waste wherever possible.
It is estimated that for approximately every four weddings an entire tree is consumed. Wowzers! I love that Stevie + Bean have established a relationship with Tree Canada, and for every four weddings they do, they plant a tree.
Tips for keeping it ‘green.’
1.First and foremost, always ask your designer and/or printer if they follow ethical printing guidelines. Are they FSC certified? Where do they source their paper from? What type of ink and printing process do they use?
2. If your ceremony program is long enough to take up two pages, make it double-sided.
3. Create items that have multi-use. For example, place cards can also double as favor tags, coasters, or fastened as glass markers so that guests have their glass for the night. Ceremony signage can be moved and used again for your reception signage.
And now for that ‘wedding favor’ that you as a guest of this blog are eligible to win. Just follow the directions below to qualify. Special thanks to the creative folks at Stevie + Bean for their generosity and their desire to “inspire and amuse through beautifully designed stationery and to deliver little bits of joy to mailboxes around the globe.”
