It’s all about perspective
I hate pencil shavings.
No matter what sharpener I get, the thing always seems to spill and the shavings get everywhere.
And that lead, it is so hard to get off a table. In fact, I went through a phase where I preferred mechanical pencils for this very reason. Not to mention you need to actually FIND the pencil sharpener. Yeah, not so easy.
Then I watched this very cool video of a Sharpener Jar from Craighton Berman on Vimeo. It changed my perspective.

Beauty instead of a mess
Instead of being a negative, messy pain in the neck, the pencil shavings actually look…dare I say it…beautiful in these Sharpener jars.
Not only that, they represent in a visual way (none of this hiding the shavings behind some plastic contraption) the progress you’ve made. I like that.
Somehow seeing all those shavings is encouraging. They stand for accomplishment; for getting stuff done.
What about you, anything that you’ve labeled a mess recently, that might be hiding some unseen beauty?
What a cool idea!
I thought it was not only great to look at but very clever. Hope to try it out soon. Lovely to hear from you. Hope your summer has been wonderful.
