Art from waste
When I first saw these beautiful pieces of jewelry by Shiran Tal of Urban Raven Upcycled Jewelry I had no idea the images within the pieces were stamps. Instead of collecting dust somewhere Shiran takes broken, discarded items and works her magic and turns out some beautiful, creative pieces of art.
Old becomes new
Shiran, who is based in Israel, studied industrial design at college and is self taught in jewelry making. It was while on a cleanup mission in her moms garage that she came across her brothers old stamp collection.
Normally, she would have just moved the box out of the way never giving it a second thought, but something about the beauty of the stamps caught her eye that day and she started using them in her jewelry.
Upcycled trash becomes jewelry
The creative process takes her to flea markets or wherever she can find materials to upcycle in her jewelry. Anything from broken glass shards, computer chips, coins, Shiran turns into amazing jewelry.
Got any stamp collections in your basement?
P.S. I hate to break it to you, but the ring in the first photo is no longer available. And that’s because it is on my finger as I type right now! I absolutely love it and reminds me of my trip to Venice this past summer. Shiran followed my purchase every step of the way through the postal system and made sure it showed up at my door.
