I love Canada Day. No two ways about it. I think I forget how fortunate I am to live here some times and this holiday weekend is an important reminder for me not to take our country and the freedoms that are part of the cultural ethos for granted.
Some ways I like to celebrate Canada Day:
1) Food is key. My favorite is simply dipping strawberries in white chocolate. Yup, it is that easy. And so beautiful….and yummy! Here are some more Canada Day recipes for you to try. Make sure to let me know how they work out.
2) Fireworks. I will be dearly missing a community fireworks party in Guelph this year. We used to have a bit of a shindig with front row seats from our deck. Lovely. No matter where I am on July 1st I will find some fireworks!
3) Flags. I am of the mind that every house in Canada should fly a Canadian flag on Canada Day. You can get them at the dollar store. You can get your kids to draw one and tape it to the window. Couldn’t get any easier. So my challenge to all you Canadians out there? On July 1st this year put out the flag. Fly it proudly.
Let’s paint this country red and white all over!

Hi Barb,
What a great website! I love the idea of writing letters, sending treasures in the mail, putting a nice stamp on an envelope and actually mailing it. or…. even better receiving it!
Take care,
Wendy

Wendi, Thanks for taking the time to come on over an visit! Loved your canoe Canada day card and many of your other designs. And, you are right, lovely to receive! Should you ever be doing an event or travelling through Calgary I would love to get together. Perhaps an opportunity to profile more of your work? Letter writing never looked so fine as on your cards. 🙂
