Flip flops and popsicles. The summer vibe is strong over at PenPalingPaula with her latest summer stationery collection. Keep reading for your chance to WIN!
Postcards rule the summer snail mail scene I feel. Traditionally, postcards were sent to those back home and these retro postcard designs are perfect for that….even if we aren’t away on vacation or on the beach.
Washi tape, letter pads, postcards
It was the vintage fan featured on the washi tape and the letter pad that I fell hard for. Can’t tell you why exactly, but I just loved it.
I have featured Paula a couple of times here on the blog because I just love her story and of course all her stationery goodies.
Summer stickers
I remember riding my bike everywhere as a kid in the summers. I didn’t remember lifting off my feet going downhill until I saw these stickers, but its true!!
Paula has outdone herself with these designs, I mean the roller skates are so groovy. Even some circular ones that are handy for sealing envelopes.
Enter to win…
Paula was kind enough to gift me some of her retro summer stationery so I can give a loot bag away to one of you. Ya? Ya!
Ok, here is what you need to do. Leave a comment before July 17th and share what you love about summer. That’s it. CONTEST NOW CLOSED.
I’ll do a random draw and the winner will be notified by email.
Norma Becerra
What do I love about the summer?
I love the feeling of leaving the house with shorts and runners or sandals.
I love the long hours of day light.
Barb
I love how light it is so late in the summer too, Norma. Although sometimes tricky for sleeping. Thanks for leaving your comment.
Brenna
I love the weather and all the outdoor fun that comes with summer. I was made to live in San Diego! But also, love Paula and her stationery. She’s just an awesome human who makes awesome stuff!
Barb
Brenna, how perfect you have found your summer-all-the-time home in SD. I completely agree about Paula, she is amazing. And her summer stationery is the cutest!
Lynn
I love summer for the cold drinks and endless ice cream! 🙂
Barb
Summer is good for both of those things, for sure, Lynn! Maybe you are enjoying at this very moment? 😉
Jacqueline
What I love about summer is the feeling of relaxation. Normally this is the time of year that I use to travel more with my family. It’s been busy at work so traveling hasn’t happened as much, but in my off time that feeling is still there!
Barb
Summer is more chill…one of my personal favorite things about it too. I am glad you are enjoying that feeling.
Eva
I love almost everything about summer!
One thing is that I can read more in better light. Another one is the sudden breeze in the late afternoon. Café frappé. Watermelon. Getting holidays postcards (or staycation postcards). Swimming in the sea.
Barb
Eva, postcards are definitely a summer thing in my mind too. Just love sending them. You offer such great summer time ideas. Thank you for commenting.
Alice
I love summer because August is my birthday month and I have an excuse to go picnic with everyone. I love summer night picnics!
Barb
Happy early Birthday Alice! Summer is definitely a good month for you then. And picnics! Yes! Love that.
Tracy
I’m in the southern hemisphere and I love that it is Christmas and New Year over the summer. I also love all the summer goodness in the garden.
Barb
Hi Tracy, thanks so much for popping in and sharing your favorite thing about summer. How fun that you celebrate Christmas over the summer. To be honest, I can’t get my mind around that as I’m used to snow at that time of year. And yes to all the garden bounty.

Summer = chocolate dipped ice cream cones when the ice cream truck stops in our neighbourhood!
Barb
Chocolate dipped icecream cones!! Once you have one you know it’s truely summer. But, why do icecream trucks play Christmas tunes?
Roseanne Felago
I love that the days are brighter for longer; sitting outside with a good book and a glass of iced tea; making ice cream; the beach; and going to the farmers’ market. And of course, writing letters!
Barb
You make icecream, Roseanne!? wow, that sound amazing. I love making ice tea…no sugar and then with lots of ice. In Canada when you go out and order and ice tea it has sugar. But in USA no sugar. I’ve come to prefer the no sugar option.
Cindy
I love being able to head out without wearing layers of cloths! Really love comfortable sandels, and takinf them off at a sandy beach or a nice patch of grass. I love wearing summer dresses and being able to spend so many more hours outdoor with the longer days. And of course, gelato!
Barb
I love gelato too! Summer isn’t really summer if you haven’t gone barefoot, is it Cindy?! 🙂
Jill
I love the promise of care-free days in the summer…I felt that way every year when summer vacation would begin. Even though those 3-month vacations between school years ended a long time ago for me, I still get that heady feeling going into the summer months! I love this particular collection from Paula and am also a huge ‘fan’ of that fan!
Barb
That ‘fan’ is so awesome, right?! I agree Jill, the days of summer should always be care-free and full of ‘whatever-you-feel-like-when-you-get-up.’
Colleen
I love camping and reading by the fire on a cool night .
Barb
A very summer thing for sure, Colleen! I wish for cool nights right now. 😉
Gwen Brittain
Sooooooooooooo cute! My fav summer things: more sunshine, flower gardens, fresh veggies, the beach, strawberries & vacation…AND more time to write letters!!!
Barb
Yaaasss to all of these things, Gwen! U-pick strawberries a definite summer favorite. And of course, more time to write letters. 🙂
joan
oops, that shoudl have been – watching Netflix in the evenings on those super hot days!
Barb
😉
Joan
What I love about summer! – Reading outside on the deck for hours. On super hot days = watching Netflix on my Ipad on the deck cause its still so warm.
Barb
I wish for a deck, Joan! Reading (or watching) sounds like a perfect way to spend a summers’ day. Thanks for leaving a comment.
