As I walked among the rows of crosses in the Field of Crosses my heart was conflicted. Feelings of deep sadness at the loss of such young life collided with my profound gratefulness. I’m still sorting this out.
One thing is for certain. I owe them my thanks. We all do. Following these photos you will find some ideas on how we can express our gratitude to the brave souls, women and men, who risk their lives today and to those who came before.
Consider the following ideas to convey thanks to our heroes of today and to our Veterans who we owe everything:
- Send a Postcard for Peace.
- You can post a message. Take a moment to read the messages; very inspiring.
- For my USA friends, you can write a letter through Operation Gratitude or A Million Thanks.
- Contact your local Canadian Legion and see how you can volunteer and serve our Veterans.
- Through Veteran’s Affairs Canada, you can also send e-cards any time of year.
- The British Forces Post Office provides information on mailing to military personnel.
Has anyone in your family served in the military?

Thanks Barb for this post and reminder for what Novemeber 11 really is for. It’s important we all remember. Hoping we can get the whole family involved this year.

It is important that we remember. Thanks Jane for reading and for leaving me a sweet comment. Hope the family finds meaning in the remembering.
