I almost wish my kids were younger.
Because surely, Petit Mail, would have been just the perfect introduction to the adventures that can be found in the mailbox.
Alison Butler of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, is the snail mail loving genius behind this subscription service for kiddies. She was inspired to create a snail mail subscription for preschool and early readers when her own daughter would delight in trips to a mailbox.
How does Petit Mail work?
Petit Mail is a double-sided colour story card, mailed in a bright colourful envelope each month that features the adventures of 2 characters, Oliver and Olivia. Some months include little extras, like stickers and activity cards. All of this paper goodness shows up in your mailbox, addressed to your little one, each month.
You can choose between a Canadian, USA or International subscription. The cost is $6.00 per month (or less) per month and all prices include postage. Subscriptions are available in three, six or twelve month options.
Creative, inspired play and family time
What I really love about Alison’s concept is that not only does your child get personalized mail (which in itself is hugely thrilling for any three year old) but inside the envelope are story cards that foster play, imagination, reading and time spent together.
I think school libraries or homeschooling programs would go crazy for this unique concept. Great gifts too, from Grandparents or Aunties wanting to opt for something other than the latest toy craze.
And so not to have the older siblings feeling left out, Petit Mail also has a pen pal letter writing kit (love the Mr.Fox motif). Plus, see my resource page of snail mail subscriptions for the young and young at heart.
Do you remember walking to the mailbox as a kid and hoping something would be inside, with your name on it?
P.S. If you are new to the blog, please don’t miss out on special discounts available only to all my friends. It is as simple as subscribing to my ramblings. Hope to see you there.
