Twinkle, twinkle
Recently I was in beautiful British Columbia. It was a far less ‘eventful’ trip than last time I traveled to Canada’s most western province—should you want to read about that saga of a story click here.
This time round I was introduced to a fantastic little store called Winks. It was here that I found these amazing, larger than life, paper stars and snowflakes. I splurged and brought a few home with me.
Winking at you
The store name itself is completely intriguing, and as I quickly discovered, the contents of the charming store were no different. It was my kind of place. So many unique finds. Treasures for any time of year, but it was the paper goodies that caught my attention.
Winks is the nickname of the owner Wendy Murray. The star with gold swirls featured here is one that Wendy so kindly gave to me. Both the star and snowflake can light up, but I think they both sparkle any time of the day. Do drop by and say hello to Winks. You will know you are in the right place because it is the shop where all things twinkle.
The wee little garland of stars is from Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit program of the Mennonite Central Committee and is a member for the World Fair Trade Organization. I just loved these stars in miniature! No doubt they would look great on a tree, but I chose to hang them over an entrance.
One of my daughters has been a master paper snowflake maker for some time now (smile). So, below you will find a link to her favorite type, plus others:
1. 3D paper snowflakes – these are so easy I can even make them!
2. Paper stars – I haven’t tried these but they look amazing.
3. These borax snowflakes look like the real thing. Especially wonderful if you live somewhere that doesn’t have snow. Use them as tree decorations or on gifts.
What do you top your Christmas tree with? A star, angel, bow or something else?

Wow, I love the intricacy of the paper snowflakes! And thank your for introducing me to borax snowflakes–we live in a place with no snow so I’m definitely going to make these!! Visiting from the Lets Be Friends Hop!

Hi Elizabeth, I have enough snow to send you some, but probably those borax version is just a little easier! 🙂 No longer are paper snowflakes something you make in grade school – these are indeed pretty special. Thanks for stopping in for a visit.
