Summer in stamps
I was sorting through my stamps the other day, assessing whether I need to re-stock for the upcoming Fall Letter Writing Socials and I noticed that some of them were all about Summer.
As the summer days start to dwindle, let’s see if we can squeeze in one more road trip, pulling over when ever we feel like it.
Fruits of the summer season
The best blackberries I’ve ever had grow at my in-laws orchard in Quebec. So amazing! Big and juicy, just perfect with a little cream. Wish I was there now to pick some. Perhaps you prefer blueberries?
Prairie grain elevators
These massive, tall buildings dot the prairies and are part of the landscape in Western Canada. Harvest season of grain has just begun and will continue into the Fall.
Summers at the pool
When I was a kid I learned to swim at a lake. The water was not clear, rather quite dark and murky. My memories of swimming lessons consist of a long walk down a well trod dirt path fighting off black flies and shivering. Lots of shivering.
Oh, and did I mention that the instructors always had a salt shaker on the dock next to the whistle and life jacket. Why, you ask? Defense against the leeches that would undoubtedly find the student swimmers. True story.
Explore your parks
No time like these last weeks of summer to get outside and explore your local or national parks. I have never been to the Spruce Woods Park before, but if it is anything like what this stamp depicts, it must be beautiful.
Is there something you still want to do or try this summer?
