Sweet Stamps launch April 17th
You had me at butter tarts. My sweet tooth is rejoicing at the new Sweet Stamps being launched April 17th, 2019 by Canada Post.
Showcasing some of Canada’s rich (get it?) culinary gems, these stamps may well be my new favorites.
From the image of tattered and well used recipe cards on the front of the booklet to the specially shaped stamps themselves, I’m drooling.
Stamps showcase Canada’s desserts
It is hard to decide which is my favorite dessert, each representing a different region in Canada, I am proud to say I’ve actually had all five delicacies. My Dad’s family is from the East Coast where the blueberry grunt originates.
I’ve been to Nanaimo, British Columbia and with intention went seeking out the famous bar. Delish!
Butter tart reigns supreme
When I moved to Alberta, I was introduced to the Saskatoon berry and someone kindly made me a pie. Similar to blueberries, but a bit more tart and smaller in size.
The tarte au sucre is a traditional super sweet dessert made in Quebec. My belle-mère (mother-in-law) makes one that I dream about before and after I visit.
And the butter tart. I worked one summer for a utility company in Ontario and we were on the road every day. We made it our mission to find the best butter tart. Needless to say, that was one of my best summers.
Which of these sweet stamps is your favorite? And does it make you want to eat a piece of pie?
