I just returned from a visit to the region of Muskoka in Ontario, Canada. Fall was in full bloom with the leaves like a patchwork of gold, red, orange, and green. Stunning. There is something about going home that makes a heart wistful.
Running amok.
I was reminded of my elementary school days and remembered running amongst the leaves playing tag with a bunch of friends. Freeze tag was a favorite. Then there was blindman’s bluff and british bull dog. For a list of what seems like a hundred versions of tag click here.
Ironing leaves between sheets of waxed paper was a fall craft we used to do as kids. We would hang them in the window as our rendition of stained glass. I never thought of making them into gift tags, but I think that it would work like a charm too. Or how about this version shown here using card stock? I loved the idea of using the leaf tags as decorations or in a garland. For the ‘how-to’ hop on over here.
Hot toddy.
As much as I love the fall season, there is something that about saying good-bye to summer that is hard to do. I have not worn socks yet this fall; trying to squeeze out the last few drops of summer. Of course what would be better on a crisp, cool fall day than a hot drink. I just loved the tag and twine used here.
These are free, printable, chalkboard gift tags.
Tag it.
I have to tell you I am drooling over these completely cool gift tags. Forget about the gift. Just get me the tag! Clearly Penny Elizabeth Neil over at Sparrowsalvage shares my weakness for all things stationery.
So, tell me, what school yard game did you play as a kid?

Those tags are adorable! Red Rover is the one that sticks out in my mind…my kids favorite is Capture the Flag!

“Red rover, red rover, we call Michelle over!” I so remember that game too. Funny, my kids love Capture the Flag as well. Thanks for your visit.

I love those too Michelle. I don’t have red maples around where I live but will have to make do with yellows and more yellows…. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Mo at Mocadeaux
Oh I loved freeze tag. I also loved playing freeze dance at parties – when the music stops you have to freeze and anyone who moves is out. Apparently I really like freezing!
Barb
Hello there Mo, So, are you looking forward to winter coming, as that is yet another opportunity to ‘freeze!’ 🙂 I remember playing freeze dance too and it was fun. Hey, a big thank you for nominating me for the Sunshine Award (who wouldn’t want to win an award with a name like that). I will definitely have some fun. Lovely of you to think of me. xoxo
