In case I haven’t told you yet, I am a huge U2 fan. When I say huge, I mean I would probably stalk Bono should he pay a visit to my fair city. Creepy, right?
I just can’t help myself.
Needless to say, I was dumbfounded at the lyrics of U2’s latest song, Ordinary Love, to be released November 29, 2013. This song was written for the upcoming movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
Have a listen.
Pen to power
I have lost count as to how many times I have watched the video. You know me, I went gaga over all the hand writing happening — on the windows, a brick wall, a chalkboard, even the laundry! Love it.
Now here is where my worlds begin to collide. I start tracking down who was involved in the creation of this lyric video and when I find out it is Irish artist and illustrator Oliver Jeffers (along with Mac Premo) I was giddy.
Dot to dot
Why? Well, for starters, I just love when the proverbial dots line up and connect to one another. Destiny? Fate? Either way, it is magical. So, it turns out there is a reason why I recognized some of that handwriting.
Oliver Jeffers illustrated one of my all time favorite children’s books The Incredible Book Eating Boy. How cool is that!
Six things we can do to feel ordinary love:
1. sit still.
2. read a book out loud. To yourself. To your kid. To your elderly neighbor.
3. accept help. even when you don’t want to.
4. hold somebody’s hand.
5. forgive.
6. write down one good thing each day.
What is your favorite part of the video? Would you stalk Bono? Ha!
