‘with kindest regards’
These vintage Easter postcards are from the New York Public Library digital collection . I just love the quirky greetings, the muted colours and the typography. And of course, the real treasure is the lovely personal handwriting scribbled in the corner.
An Easter Greeting
I have to admit that I don’t send out Easter Greetings via snail mail. Yes, you read that right. I know, hard to believe, but just keeping it real. These vintage Easter postcards do give me pause to think about doing it next year though, provided I could get my hands on some vintage beauties.
Easter traditions
We have been told by the mini humans in the house that the Easter egg hunt must be harder. Way too easy they say. Verging on lame and an insult to their sleuthing abilities they say. Well, people, this tradition is about to move to another level, get your baskets ready!
Pussy willows, maple syrup, asparagus, Good Friday service at church, are all part of traditions at our house. How about you? Perhaps Easter Lilies like written in the postcard below?
vintage Easter postcards
Whatever your Easter tradition I wish you a wonderful weekend. May it be loaded with chocolate, time for reflection and perhaps even a moment to put pen to paper and send an Easter wish.
P.S. Did I tell you? I hate hot cross buns.
Ann Davison
I found some vintage Easter postcards just like these and made home made cards from them for snail mail this year with the message: Wishing you an “old-fashioned” happy Easter. They were a hit!
Barb
Hi there Ann, I love, love your idea! Not to mention creative and kind to the environment all at the same time. Not a surprise they were a hit! Thanks for sharing (and inspiring) us.
