“Charlotte’s Web” was published in 1952. It still makes me cry. I loved that story as a kid. Still do. If you have never read it you really should. Here is a smattering of my favorite Elwyn Brooks White’s quotes:
“Why did you do all this for me?’ he asked. ‘I don’t deserve it. I’ve never done anything for you.’ ‘You have been my friend,’ replied Charlotte. ‘That in itself is a tremendous thing.”
“After all, what’s a life, anyway? We’re born, we live a little while, we die.”
“It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer.”
“Trust me, Wilbur. People are very gullible. They’ll believe anything they see in print.”
“Never hurry and never worry!”
“Too many things on my mind,’ said Wilbur.’Well, said the goose, that’s not my trouble. I have nothing at all on my mind, but I’ve too many things under my behind.”
What one is your favorite? Please, don’t run away without telling us which one. Hard to choose I know.
Now, let’s continue our day, as Charlotte the spider did, and create our own wonderful web of words!
