Books and coffee
If I lived in Toronto,ON, Canada I think this would be my new favorite place to hang, especially to write a letter.
This is Fika cafe, in Toronto’s Kensington Market. This amazing book wall was captured by Inayali, a Montreal based photographer who frequents coffee shops when he goes to a new city.
Lately, I’ve taken to writing letters in my car.
I know, I can’t think of a more uninspiring place either. But, with shuttling kids around to their stuff, I find myself doing a lot of waiting. And so, I write letters.
What about you? Where is your favorite spot to write?
P.S. A special thanks to Inayali for allowing me to showcase his photo and should his travels ever bring him to Calgary, Alberta, I’ll be sure to take him to a few of my own favorite cafes.
Leslie
What a cool place! I think I’d like to write there too. This sounds odd but I usually write laying in bed. I get the chance to catch up and write before I fall asleep. I’m stopping by from SITS, happy Saturday!
Barb
Hi there Leslie, wow, I’m so impressed that you can write while lying in bed. I would fall asleep before pen hit the paper I’m afraid. I do keep paper and pen close by though, so if I wake up with some idea I can write it down right away. Thanks for stopping in for a wee visit.
Cat
For me it’s the classic coffee shop! But I always carry a notebook on me in case something brilliant comes to me at the least convenient time 😉
Barb
I love that you always carry a notebook, Cat. No doubt brilliance strikes at the most unexpected times. Way to be prepared for it. Lovely to meet you.
Jen
What a great place to write! I love it!
Barb
This place has character, books, charm and good tea. What more could I ask for?! Hope you have your own favorite haunt too Jen.
Eva
I’ve realised that nowadays I write all the letters while sitting in my desk. But I can say I’ve written everywhere: in the library, in cafés, on the bus, on the train…
This wall isn’t practical to clean, but very inspiring! 😉
Barb
Clearly you are a very adaptable writer Eva. Those are a lot of places you have found yourself writing in. Your comment about the wall not being practical made me smile. How right you are, but not in my house, so it’s perfect! 🙂
Sydney
I certainly could get inspired at Fika Cafe…what a GREAT WALL!
Like you Barb, I write a lot in my car! Sometimes I pull over into the post office so I can get as much done as possible, to feel inspired that I can ‘then’ send out.
I think my places of inspiration or ‘on the go’. I write a lights, standing in a line…things like that for busy Mom’s…he he. It’s fun. I write postcards, not letters, so I can get it done. I find it’s easy because I think about that person, and the words come easy as everyone is so unique 🙂
Barb
Glad to know I’m not the only one writing in cards Sydney! I’ll think of you when I’m muttering under my breath about having to adjust the seat and silly steering wheel in my way. 🙂 Keep on writing!
