Valentine’s Day makes writing a note or card easy. The occasion presents itself. No thinking required. Most homes have a red pen or crayon….or lipstick! Dollar stores have some great deals on those wee little cards. And you are off to the races.
For a great activity that encourages kids to write while crafting check out my tips and ideas page.
And to add a little “twist” why not consider sending some version of a valentine to someone that perhaps hasn’t been the easiest to love lately? I know, I know I ask too much, but life is short people. Seize this window of opportunity.
p.s. I just love this card above! I am always at a loss to find Valentine’s in french for my kiddies’ so I was thrilled to happen upon this talented artist. Click here to find more work from evajuliet.

Love your blog Barb! And it’s so perfect coming from you with your genuine love of stationary and all things paper…who else would spend hours with me at the Paper Source while away on vacation : )
I made these cootie catchers for the boys…nice and easy for someone non-crafty like me, and it was a really nice treat to give them something simple, not store bought, with all my little love notes to them. Truly, they loved it, so thank you for the tip!

Thanks Lisa for your encouraging words. I just can’t help myself in a good stationary store! Wish I could have been there to give some big heart hugs to your little ones on valentine’s day but I am glad the cootie catchers were a hit. Thanks for reading along with me.

Love the idea of a cootie catcher although I’ll likely change the name 😛
I was just checking my ‘Valentine’s Day’ stash for the little trinkets (and 2 chocolate items) that I’ve collected for the big day this week. This would be a nice & fun homemade addition to what I’ve purchased. It will also drive home the message that it doesn’t always take $ to make a good gift! Thanks!

Let me know what you re-name it! Ha! Enjoy your day of hearts.
